England Women listed since they defeated Portugal 1-0 from Setubal thanks to Beth Mead 23, a win in six games.
The Lionesses entered the match at the Estadio do Bonfim in need of a victory to ease the strain on under-fire manager Phil Neville, who had not seen his side win since they beat against Norway in June in the World Cup quarter-finals,
However, in spite of dominating large parts of the struggle in Setubal, they had to wait until 18 minutes from time to earn the breakthrough, and then their winner had been the consequence of a dreadful error in Portugal No 1 Sousa Barros Morais.
The people held on despite Portugal coming urgently near a last-minute equaliser if Pires Netos free-kick hit the pub, much to the huge relief of Neville.
