Two-time Olympic gold medallist Caster Semenya claims she is starting a”new journey” after joining a women’s football club.
Semenya is appealing from a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport which accepted the IAAF’s introduction of a new testosterone limit to athletes and are not going to shield her 800m title at Doha at September.
The 28-year-old has begun training with South African JVW, but is not able to create her debut until next year – beginning in 2020 – with the transport window now closed.
South Africa JVW, who are owned by South Africa women’s captain Janine van Wyk, announced the signing of Semenya on Thursday.
“I am thankful for this opportunity and I appreciate the love and support that I get from the group,” Semenya said in an declaration.
“I’m excited about this new trip, and hopefully I can contribute as much as I can into the club”
Van Wyk said:”I am absolutely recognized that out of all of the other women’s clubs across the world, she’s chosen JVW as the club at which she would love to start showcasing her soccer skills.
“I chased her at her first coaching [session] together with the group on Tuesday and was impressed to find that she has all the principles”
