Amari Cooper: Raiders weren’t a ‘good fit for me’

Amari Cooper’s final days in Oakland have been a forgettable hodgepodge of inconsistency and head-scratching usage. After fighting through six matches under Jon Gruden, the Raiders’ top receiver has been shipped to Dallas, where he starred once more.
During a radio interview with Pro Football Talk last week, Cooper reiterated the change of scenery was essential to reboot his livelihood.

“Yeah. Whatever the situation may be, there are particular reasons why one location may not work for a man and another location will, Cooper stated, via the Dallas Morning News. “I believe that the change of scenery was actually necessary. I really, honestly, don’t think if I would have stayed with the Raiders last year I would’ve been able to flourish and attain some peaks I managed to achieve as a Cowboy. It was definitely necessary.”
In 11 games with Dallas, including playoffs, Cooper averaged 81.45 receiving yards per tilt and scored 7 TDs. In six matches with Gruden’s Raiders, the wideout generated 46.6 getting yards with one TD. Cooper considers part of the manufacturing discrepancy was his usage in Oakland.
“I don’t believe it was a fantastic match for me,” he said. “I don’t believe I was really able to showcase my skills there for all those reasons, I will call it extenuating circumstances. But for whatever reasonI was not able to reach my peaks and that I sort of knew that I needed to be gone in order to do a few of the things which I wanted to do as an NFL player.
“I felt just like there are things that I needed to do out there on the area during the matches, certain plays that I wished to be known as and certain routes I wanted to conduct that just weren’t part of the game program.”
After being unleashed in Dallas, Cooper appears poised for another big season as the No. 1 goal from the Cowboys’ offense. New coordinator Kellen Moore plans to be creative with his scheme and move the lively receiver around more than previous trainers, which could help generate positive matchups. Add in a complete offseason of chemistry construction between Cooper and Dak Prescott, and it portends a big season for your wideout, irrespective of whether he is playing beneath a new big contract or not.
