Two-time Olympic gold medallist Caster Semenya says she is starting a”new journey” after connecting a women’s football club.
Semenya is appealing from a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport which approved the debut of a new testosterone limitation for athletes of the IAAF and will not shield her title in Doha in September at the World Championships.
The 28-year-old has begun training with Southern African JVW, but is not able to create her debut until next year – starting in 2020 – together with the transport window currently closed.
JVW, who are owned by South Africa the captain Janine van Wyk of women, announced the signing of Semenya.
“I’m thankful for this opportunity and I love the love and support I get from the team,” Semenya said in an declaration.
“I am looking forward to this new trip, and hopefully I can contribute as much as I can into the club.”
Van Wyk said:”I am absolutely out that out of all the other women’s clubs around the world, she’s chosen JVW since the club in which she’d love to start showcasing her football skills.
“I welcomed her first training [session] together with the team on Tuesday and has been amazed to find that she definitely has all the fundamentals.”
