England Women recorded since they overcame Portugal 1-0 in Setubal thanks to Beth Meads second-half 23, a win in six games.
The Lionesses entered the game at the Estadio do Bonfim in urgent need of a success to ease the strain on manager Phil Neville, who hadnt seen his side win since they beat Norway in the World Cup quarter-finals in June,
However, in spite of dominating large parts of the struggle in Setubalthey had to wait till 18 minutes from time to make the breakthrough, and then their winner was the effect of a dreadful mistake in Portugal No 1 Sousa Barros Morais.
The people held on despite Portugal coming desperately near a last-minute equaliser if Pires Netos free-kick struck on the pub, much to the massive relief of Neville.
